Modernizing QlikView Authentication for a Global Building Materials GCC

Problem Statement

The client is the Global Capability Center (GCC) of a leading global building materials company operating across 70+ countries. As part of an enterprise-wide identity modernization initiative, the organization needed to replace its legacy Ping Federator-based QlikView authentication with Google SAML, creating a more secure and standardized identity management framework while ensuring uninterrupted access across Development, QA, and Production environments.

Key Challenges

• QlikView authentication relied entirely on the legacy Ping Federator identity provider.
• QlikView remained the only application outside the organization's Google MFA standard.
• Migration required a custom QlikView SAML authentication flow and application-level configuration.
• Authentication changes had to be executed across Development, QA, and Production environments.
• Production cutover needed to be completed without disrupting business users or dashboard access.

Solution Implemented

• Custom Authentication: Built a custom authentication web page compatible with Google SAML.
• SAML Integration: Configured QlikView SAML integration with the Google SAML Identity Provider (IdP).
• Application Configuration: Applied SAML configuration across QlikView application files.
• Environment Deployment: Executed server-level configuration across Development, QA, and Production environments.
• Authentication Redirect: Customized Authenticate.aspx to redirect authentication through Google SAML.
• Production Go-Live: Provided end-to-end production deployment and go-live support for a seamless QlikView Google SAML migration.
